How To Grow Bonsai Trees

How To Grow Bonsai Trees

I want to learn more about how to start with bonsai planting. What trees grow fastest and are more hardy?

I am from a tropical country with lots of sunshine

There are many popular varieties of trees and shrubs that are used for bonsai. Many are from the evergreen family, a slow-growing, hardy group of plants. Flowering plants are popular as they have beautiful blooms in the spring or summer. You can get plants that are established bonsai, you can grow from seeds or you can take a houseplant and prune it.

When first starting out in bonsai it is usually best to get an established bonsai. While these are more costly you will be able to take better care of the plant and have success in growing it. As you become more familiar with the gardening methods used in bonsai you can add other plants to your home.

Here are some of the most popular bonsai plants.

Junipers – Junipers are evergreen conifers that typically have slender needle-like leaves. They have one trunk with alternating branches. They are hardy plants that enjoy full sun in summer. Junipers become dormant in winter. Under artificial light it is still important to provide some time away to simulate the seasons. Junipers come in several varieties and make good bonsai plants for beginners because they are easy to care for and can be made into many interesting shapes.

Jade – Jade is a slow growing evergreen perennial with sturdy branches and thick fleshy green leaves. It is a shrub that usually has several or more trunks growing up from one root. The jade is easy to care for. It likes to be in a sunny window but will do well in most light. Keep the soil lightly moist. Less watering is required during the winter. Pruning can be done any time of year and usually consists of removing stray branches from the lower portion.

Figs – This popular evergreen shrub is often found as a houseplant. There are many varieties of fig and it is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world. Figs like full sun in the summer and prefer moist soil. Do not allow the soil to become too wet. Mist the leaves but not in direct sun. They are suitable for many styles including cascade, leaning and straight.

The Villa At Echo Beach | Bali Vacation Villas Mean You Vacation in Style in the Land of Temples

Bali Vacation Villas Mean You Vacation in Style in the Land of Temples

Easily one of the most visited locations in the world, Bali has had millions of visitors over the years. Each week, thousands of tourists flock to the island to revel in the natural beauty, marvel at the many different dances and cultural activities, and enjoy surfing, diving, hiking, shopping, spas, and restaurants that have all gained national recognition for the tiny island. From youthful backpackers to wealthy millionaires renting out Bali vacation villas, people from all walks of life visit Bali. The island of Bali has many nicknames. “The Island of the Gods” is the most well known, but another common name for the Indonesian island is “The Land of the Temples”.

It is easy to understand how it earned this name since the island is covered in over twenty thousand temples of various sizes. Each village on the island is required to have at least three temples in it, and some have even more than this. While these temples are certainly interesting, most people will be more intrigued by visiting one of the nine major directional temples on the island, situated at strategic locations across the island and intended to protect the inhabitants from dark forces. Some of these are more impressive and accessible than others, while some are simply located far from hotels and Bali vacation villas, factors that make certain directional temples more popular than others.

The most popular temple for tourists is undoubtedly Uluwatu temple on the southern point of Bali. It is easy to access, close to most Bali vacation villas and luxury hotels, and is also host to a nightly spectacle known as the Kecak dance, with hundreds of participants engaging in the show. The temple at Tanah Lot is also impressive, situated on a rock outcropping just off the shoreline. Both of these major temples are frequently visited by tourists and can be somewhat crowded during peak season. Nevertheless, they are stunning and well worth a visit.

For locals, the most important temple is the mother temple Besakih, perched high on Mount Agung. While climbing the mountain is a difficult and dangerous task, a road winds its way up to the temple and even features bemos, or buses, that can take you to the temple if you want

Bali Boutique Villas – The Best Way to Enjoy a Bali Vacation

An average of one million people visit the Indonesian island of Bali each year, making it one of the world's top tourist destinations and the most visited island in the country.  For most, their trip will undoubtedly include a visit to the beautiful beaches, a trip to at least one of the twenty thousand temples that cover the island, a stop in Seminyak for food or drinks, and an evening spent watching the incredible sunsets that Bali has become famous for.  Others may decide to learn to surf, spend a day diving in the crystal clear waters, or hike to the top of one of the many volcanic peaks.  While there's plenty to do while you visit, your stay will be much improved if you stay in one of the many Bali boutique villas available for rent.

Bali boutique villas provide numerous advantages over other accommodations that make them well worth the higher price.  Food is one benefit.  A vacation spent living off of subpar food can be no fun, and Bali is filled with unique cuisine experience.  While Seminyak and other areas are host to many outstanding eating establishments, your villa will likely be one of your favourite places to eat.  Villa rentals in Bali will include a private chef that can create everything from a quick snack to a lavish meal.  And while most rentals include breakfasts in their price, you'll likely find that trusting your personal chef to create a great meal is much easier and affordable than venturing out.

Atmosphere is a major part of any vacation accommodation, and Bali boutique villas offer that in spades.  Each is uniquely designed with elegance, comfort, and ambience in mind.  From modern retreats to rustic island hideaways, you'll be able to revel in the comfort that their designs create.  And unlike other accommodations, you will be able to enjoy privacy and serenity since your villa will be a private space for you and your guests.  From the pool to the balconies, the gardens to the entertainment room, the only other people you'll see are the staff hired to take care of your every need.

From housekeepers to pool attendants, Bali boutique villas include full staffs that can handle your needs efficiently.  Security guards work in rotating shifts to provide round the clock protection, and babysitting services or even drivers are always nearby if you need them.  Try finding that in a hotel room!

Bali is one of the most magical places on earth, a tropical paradise that offers scenic beauty, exciting adventures, and an incredibly rich culture.  Whatever you want your vacation to include, starting each day from your private villa is a great way to ensure that your stay is incredible from start to finish.
